Hey, no co parents, how's your May, December going somebody said that to me a soccer last night? And I thought that is a really good description of how busy May is Welcome to the no co pulse. We're even when it's really busy We are keeping our finger on the pulse of no co to let you know what's going on with community and business news I'm Kurt bear. I'm the owner of local think tank and the host of the local experience podcast And I'm Kelsey Harris the owner of this is no co and discover no co magazine and let's get started with what's moving in no co Are on the move segment is sponsored by miles beyond running community Where they're looking forward to their next event the weld your metal running festival may 30th and 31st This one's everything from a run walk 7k to ultra events Sanna's and glamping and all kinds of activities After that the red white and brew race is 20th in water valley and that'll close at the grainry there at the Raynets. Yes, that's a great one nice party and then on July 4th is the Greeley freedom 5k in downtown Oh, I didn't know about that one. Yeah, I went to that one last year. I think I'm gonna be there again this year Okay, oh, where am I? That's like you got a 4th of the live fit. I got some solid American flag You're like I am ready That's I have to plug again following miles beyond on Instagram because I again got up behind the scenes look at them Setting up for weld your metal and it just is so fun to kind of see what goes into the running and the races So definitely give them a follow for some behind the scenes content But what's moving in no co-curt? Well moving into their giant new building is the bass pro shops. Yes, we've been watching it at the new brands at the ranch It's a 18 acre development. This new shop is a hundred and thirty thousand square feet And it's a it's crazy to me that with kind of an Amazon world and retailers struggling all over that we can have a shields And a couple of jacks and a giant sportsman's warehouse and still a big bass pro shop But I'm excited to go check it out. Yeah, that's how I was like well go check it out We love to go to shields and see the animals. We'll go see some other taxidermy animals animals. I know No shields maybe has the market on the Ferris wheel, but we'll still go check out bass pro awesome What do you got moving this week? Yeah joyride is looking to move into no co joyride is looking to be a bike cafe So you come it's a bike hub you can get your bike worked on as well as a coffee shop and cafe and It is being started by Rebe who runs Rebe explores and a couple of other people and I love Rebe She is so sweet. She has a pretty big following that talks about kind of inclusive outdoor spaces So ways that you can get into cycling get into rock climbing win for some people like me It feels like if you're not an expert already Why even try it? They're like I don't know where to get started and she makes that Totally different So I ordered their merch as the presale to try to support them I meant to wear my shirt today and totally forgot but there's my joyride stickers So definitely check them out. They've been hosting group rides and kind of Events up to it. So give them a follow join a group ride even if you're not into cycling. They're great people So are they looking for a location? They're looking for a location. Yeah, they've gone down They've gotten a bunch of their furniture a bunch of their espresso things But they just don't have a location yet. So they're looking for a spot cool very good But next up We've got our community gatherings sponsored by Ginger and Baker and one of their cutest events is coming up on May 31st It is their eighth annual dog flower crown photo day So it is a totally free event. They do ask that you RSVP so they know how many dogs are gonna be showing up But on May 31st bring your four-legged friends go down and get a flower crown and a portrait of your dog It is free, but there will be donations collected for animal friends alliance So that is a great time and the cutest awesome Anything else going on? Yeah coming to loveland on May 30th is the blues and cruise car show Not to be confused with the other blues festival that's coming to loveland the blues and brews That one is June 5th Okay, the blues and cruise is May 30th. So all the blues events happening in loveland This one is classic cars and electric guitars That will be downtown may 30th from 10 to 3 very cool. My father-in-law is on a route 66 tour right now It is 64 Chevelle convertible very nice I'm kind of he invited us to join him on a cruise let uh maybe in the fall or something I was like gosh and we really take of extra week off before but they're having a great time We just got it tuned up actually had a new top put on it so they're ready to go so he should probably take that down to the blues and cruise Yes, I was like that's what people need to see if it's running I want to shout out as a community gathering. It could fit in our noco beat music segment But there's a local musician Aubrey Dale that is releasing her debut album Fireweed on May 24th at the ring out next week and Take it's only $29 includes a free beverage sponsor by Greeley hat works. Oh, we love hat works And I've seen some of her music and she's pretty remarkable singer songwriter. So uh strap on your booster gear and get on down and get going and I have to shout out Ben sister Bobby Who follows long all the way from Oregon and actually saw this event with Aubrey Dale and tagged me in it because she knows that I love country music and thought it was something that I should know about so shout out Bobby shout out Aubrey Dale got a wide Network already. I know that's she's reaching across the country So but and moving into that noco beat segment. We'll just blend right in what other music and arts are going on I have got the fifth annual A Brothers fountain ABF at the farm event which is Right below the devil's backbone in loveland and that is oh, I don't have the date on that. I think it's June 6th Okay, we'll have to we can put in some text yep june 6 And it's in west lovelin you can get the exact location on their website But it's $30 suggested donation and 10% of all donations go to the lovelin community kitchen love that and they've got Actually four shows three kind of shorts with some of the band members gram good Trevor Michael and Ryan Geon And then the full you know nine piece band or whatever and I want to have to close the show very nice I didn't know about that and it's the fifth annual so I know I was like something new so First time for me it likely yes, that sounds like a great time about you up in Fort Collins the global music the global sounds music festival is coming back to old town This is on May 30th It is a free festival and it just brings music kind of from all over the world to downtown And so that is put on by the bohemian foundation and so it's a great time to get out and test out different styles of music That's on the big stage. Yeah, that'll be in the down on the big stage downtown music goes from like 12 to six I believe that's next up We've got our community supporting community brought to us by breeze through car wash And did you know that you could raise money for your organization straight through breeze through fundraising program? I did not know about this and I feel like Fundraising is synonymous with car washes in my mind But instead of having to put on your own parking lot car wash the second full weekend of every month the breeze through will match dollar for dollar every Thing that is in their pay stations and that will go straight to the organization Oh, so right where you pull up to pay for your car wash you can actually make a donation there Yep, and they match it How cool is that yeah So no extra work on your organization's part people that are already coming to get their car washes get to hear about your organization And they can donate right there and then breeze through moral match So they change up who gets that round of donations each time each time Yep, and I think that they said it goes through October 31st in the summertime That might be I believe it's October 31st that they do that the second from the second full weekend of every month Very cool. So I know I was like I didn't know that they did that and it's just another way they're involved in the community So what else is going on community? This one is a little bit of a bummer, but also has a happy ending for some I'm sure that by now we've all heard about the sudden closure of canyon concert ballet Um, they closed at the end of April and left a lot of dancers Kind of with nowhere to perform and they were almost ready for their Showcase for the spring Um, and so these are professional dancers that have been getting ready for what would have been their Um, it's like a dance and beer show that they normally do at bass blue But uh, oh, yeah, Bob. I didn't even know that I actually financed that real estate development surrounding Oh, and so they corrected me early on that I was like they need somebody out there correcting people. I've been saying it wrong all the time but They have come together with the dancers of canyon concert ballet Um to give them the space to host their swan song final performance They were able to raise quite a bit of money to be able to rent the space pay their dancers and finish out well So their swan song performance will be at bomb blue theater on May 22nd through 24th I believe the 22nd opening show was already sold out But double check on that But they'll have added a saturday night and the sunday afternoon show So let's support them. What do you got Kurt? I have got on saturday may 30th the great futures cala So ready 40 years of the boys and grubbles club of learn recount wow 40 years Yeah, and so this one's at the Lori's student center ballroom where I think we both had events there this year Yes Banger of a location if you're a nonprofit looking for a site for your gala. Yes, it is a great And cocktail attire complimentary drinks elegant dinner live auction And a bunch of recognitions of youth and champions for children in the community So uh tickets are still available check that out on their website or Yeah, yeah, I was like I'm sure you can find it But then what's going on in the business world business world well my regional business like today is actually I lifted it from an article in the most recent biz west, but uh verbal bras What is that? It's bras that can support your wearable breast pump Okay, so it doesn't leak. Yes move around and it saves Working moms up to 30 minutes daily. Yeah, I'm sure at least So it was founded by Rebecca Thompson just she just started shipping products this spring And um, she is a new Belgium executive assistant senior executive assistant and three years ago when she had her daughter She discovered challenges in that space. Yeah, all of this product has a utility patent on it and uh, so if you're A working yeah, I'll check out verbal bras and to me it sounds like a future Uh, yes, I think definitely because yeah, I'm sure at least 30 minutes a day where you're not just kind of Stuck yeah, you can't move around at all even really type at your computer Um, so that would have been amazing to have a few years ago for me So I'm very glad somebody thought of it. We don't need to talk about Well, I'm not having anymore kids. I do always need to eat So we have been on a poke bowl kick recently, which is something five years ago Kelsey would have never said No, I don't think I even tried to them until two years ago But now whenever Ben's like what do you want to eat? I'm like, oh, we're not that far. We could we could go But most of the poke balls that we found have been on the south side of town And we finally tried aloha poke and boba which is on college kind of by oh Like noodles and Chipotle in that moral area Yes, and it was delicious. We loved it But really what I wanted to highlight was the service We had both of our kids with us and the likelihood that they were going to eat anything was pretty low But the person that was working behind the counter helped us go through kind of What do kids normally like she gave us sauce recommendations? She really worked with them to pick out things that they were interested in And they ended up eating most of it. And so it was a total win And I think they felt like they were involved in it. And so that was a huge win. We will be back So you shout out. Yeah, I've been there before and noticed the same that service has always been really great Yeah, that's they were very very nice behind the counter I'm gonna shout out friendly nicks butcher off lamay avenue in Fort Collins near the sprouts I don't you chop it friendly nicks. We do we love friendly nicks Like the best quality meats from local sustainable farms You can like stand in there and watch them butcher counts. Yes, it's so cool Plus amazing house made beef jerky and my favorite the nicks sticks Oh, I don't think we've had those and also dog bones stock for your soup and fresh beef liver oftentimes and Do you like liver Kelsey? I don't think I've ever actually had liver But it is one of my father-in-law's favorites It is a running joke that whenever everybody else leaves and he stays home that he's always making liver Um, and I think that's maybe why I haven't had it because he would do that for the kids When their mom would leave and now Ben has never made liver since we've been a grown-up funny. I'm actually Most of the time when I get my liver at friendly nicks. It's because jill is So this is the trash. Why would you cook that in the house? Yes, that is exactly how I love it. I crave it. I love it. So I'm on board with you five. So that's also you guys can get together have some liver But friendly nicks also does amazing things in the community. He does everything from fundraisers to raising food baskets When the federal funding was cut last year. He did a huge thing all the way down to like he hosts art contests for kids With prizes within the butcher shop So if you're all about supporting local as we are friendly nicks is a great place to do that Especially during the Christmas season they have a friendly nicks coffee cups Oh with a tallow candle in it So you when you burn the candle yeah, which is a great candle Then you've got a coffee cup after which is so much nicer than just throwing away. Yes, that you don't have to waste it That's I was like that. I'm gonna be looking for Christmas gifts now. That's we're already ready Well This week we don't have a shout out which means you guys need to be tagging us because I know that you're going out and supporting Local and so we want to know how you are supporting local each week Tag us at the no co pulse.
