Hey, Noco. Have you ever lived someplace your entire life and then spelled it wrong on hundreds of dollars of merch? Yeah, no me either. Definitely didn't spell poo to wrong last week. Welcome to the Noco Pulse! Where we are keeping our balls on the finger of what's going on in Northern Colorado so that you can be up to date with the business and community news and don't worry we fix the spelling so if you want to be a part of the Pooter Fishing Club, it's spelled right now. That would be a, maybe that could be a collector's item. That's I know. We've got, I printed them all for the market and then there's an extra R in Pooter. Not that I haven't lived here when to put her high school. It's okay. It's great. Well, I'm her bear and I am the owner and founder of LocalThink Tank and host of the Local Experience podcast. And I'm Kelsey Harris, the owner of this is Noco and Discover Noco magazine. Welcome back. What's moving in Noco? So the on-to-move segment is our opener and that's sponsored by the Miles Beyond Running Company community and the Run Windsor Race series and their next two events are the Red, White and Brew event in Windsor coming up on June 20th. Okay. And that is followed shortly after by the Freedom 5K in Greeley. Yes, I knew they were doing that one in Greeley. I was the MC for that one last year. I'm going to be there again this year. You're all going to be up there again this year so it's right early on 4th of July morning. Excellent. And the Red, White and Brew has everything from a 5K to a half marathon and some Ruck races. Oh, I don't think I know about Ruck races. Oh yeah, it's kind of the thing for like for hunters and stuff, especially they have to carry 60 pounds when they go off into the woods and look for things and so it's kind of a popular thing to just carry extra weight. Are you running or walking? Running. Okay. And best you can. Wow. Okay. And that's 50 pounds or whatever. Yeah. So what's moving in Noco this week is Wellington. It is on the move with breaking ground on their kind of Main Street remodel project on Cleveland Avenue. So water and infrastructure going in now they got four and a half million dollars from the state of Colorado to with pedestrian safety and parking and water sewer and so the streets are going to be remaining open. Okay. But I would encourage everyone from Wellington and even from the surrounding communities to go up there and intentionally shop Wellington a little bit and keep those businesses thriving through this construction season because I know that's a business killer sometimes. Yeah, that's and we love all the shops in Main Street Wellington and I know they've been feeling nervous about this coming for the spring and so now that it's here in a summertime of course when everybody's out so go out still walk around check out the shop at the retail stores. They are worth it but it will be so worth it because that will be another downtown of notability here. Yes, that's once it's ready and done it's going to be so nice and so. So that's what's on the move this week for me. Excellent and on my side Greeley just got a little bit sweeter. Edison's ice cream just opened their second location and Greeley their grand opening was this weekend and so if you haven't tried therefore Collins location or even if you have it's definitely worth heading over to their Greeley location it was designed by the same mom and daughter duo Rosie design and their designs are gorgeous every time I step into a business in Northern Colorado that they've designed you can tell that it's done intentionally everything from the colors to the way they incorporate the history is wonderful and the ice cream is delicious everything from their ice cream sandwiches to their ice cream is so good so definitely head over to downtown Greeley and check it out. Awesome, that's great to hear. That's our next segment is community gatherings brought to us by Ginger and Baker Kurt have you taken a cooking class at the teaching kitchen? I have not shame to say. I have an either actually. I have at the cooking studio okay across the way of the gallery but not at Ginger and Baker yeah okay that's I have an either but I was checking out the calendar and they have everything from cocktail classes to cooking the perfect New Orleans brunch to a Vietnam style dinner everything that you could want to learn about teaching I think you could probably find in the teaching kitchen. So you don't have to bring a group you can just join a class yep they have set classes throughout the week and the professional chef gives you everything that you need at your own little station and walks you through cooking it from start to finish and then you get to taste it and so check out their calendar see what's coming up in June but I don't think that you will be disappointed I want to check them out when I saw the New Orleans style brunch sounded amazing so definitely something worth it oh Ben yes yes I bet you have to for brunch or yes so this month it is officially June I feel like for the last three weeks I've just been saying that I cannot believe that it's may I cannot believe it's a memorial day and now I cannot believe that this will be coming out on June first and it feels like some weeks there are just so many gatherings to choose from and the month of June kind of feels like that to me the entire month where I was going to call out schools out their stuff for the kids their stuff every night I feel like and I was going to call out all of the pride festivals but there were too many to list in one thing so if you're looking for that head over to this is no code this week and I'll put out a whole guide for you but what I want to highlight is the Foco Eco Fest and ZeroScape Garden Party this is going to be at Washington Park on Saturday the sixth of June you can go and get conservation resources they have a plant swap with native plants you can learn about new ways that you can kind of focus on the environment when you are in your landscaping and your gardens and it's done by the city of Fort Collins but it's from 10 to one at Washington Park we're actually looking to take the grass out of our front yard area and put a zero-scape thing in so that might be so yeah that's a perfect place to start but yeah that's we kind of all every year think of new ways of little bits of taking out the grass moving more eco-friendly yeah but where are you gathering we are going just down the street from your gathering to the Lamar County Farmers Market it's back in action as of a couple weeks ago yeah and running through October but every Saturday morning nine till one there's I don't know 50 to 80 vendors probably when I go down there and there's already stuff from the farmers there's greens and a bunch of other stuff that have already been made available but also lots of local meats best meat in town can be found down there usually and and sweet treats and jams and jellies and honey so get on down there to the farmers market one of these Saturday mornings yeah did you know it's the 50th anniversary of that farmers market thank you for sure yeah I was like they said they were one of the first farmers markets in the area and so definitely go and check it out still going well the noco beat is our arts and entertainment segment and that is not sponsored yet but if you're out there we might be looking for a sponsor so I was like we've got lots of things you get any beats coming up Kelsey I do this weekend is Greeley Greeley's blues jam okay and so that always kicks off their Friday fast so Friday it is free in downtown Greeley there are also then ticket events at the Moxie and all day Saturday at Island Grove it is all day blues faster so grab your tickets and head out to blues jam also what do you got this week my feature it almost felt like it should be in the community gatherings but it's the lagoon concert oh yes yes you and that's Wednesday night starting June 10th okay and running through July 22nd shows start at 6.30 pm and close by 8.30 and feature a variety of genres and styles on the lawn kind of near the lagoon on CSU campus by Laura student center yes we love it bring your lawn chairs bring your coolers not supposed to bring booze but yeah they don't really have a detection apparatus because bring your cooler and bring your neighbors it's come fun to have a nice big group and lay out some blankets or chairs and just enjoy the show the first one is Ashley wineland okay national touring country artist singer so I like that and June 17th will feature the honky-tonk and folk band sugar bridges oh yes that's they're always good in the summer that's if you bring your kids make sure that you check out the hill in the back because it's a perfect rolling hill we have found something still tumble with I do not do any tumbling but they do but next up we have community supporting community which is all elbows and knees flying around but this is what we need to see at the lagoon series so featuring Kurt doing summer solts down the hill next up we have our community supporting community brought to you by beat breeze through car wash who I hear has a pretty cool employee program Kurt what do they got going on you know I learned about this when I took a tour a few weeks back when breeze through donated some backpacks for our drink tanks yes and they have employee housing in the back of their office building for 10 employees I believe they've they've had a bunch of extra space more than they needed for their headquarters and just turned into employee housing which is yeah once you've got that extra space that's such a cool way to use it and invest in your employees yeah so it's uh I think they get individual apartments and they I'm sure they get paid something to cover some of the cost and stuff but actually I'm sure it's far more affordable than the rent oh yeah I'm sure if that that gives you kind of an in so shout out to breeze through for doing awesome things yeah that's for their employees and for the community at large that's excellent and this week I am sponsored I am sponsoring I am shouting out the big bones canine rescue masquerade ball that is this Saturday that June 6th at the Laurie Student Center from five to 10 I couldn't find how much tickets are but you can donate anything to big bones canine rescue they have saved over 20,000 dogs and are working to continue doing that so shout out to them maybe you need a new dog Kelsey I know Ben was actually looking at new dogs the other day we think Odie maybe needs a friend yeah so we'll see property there that's my skirt what do you got I have on June 3rd so just a couple days from when this releases there's a special event at music city hot chicken okay five to eight p.m. dine out for housing stability in support of name that is a great one so no need to for tickets just show up eat amazing chicken and know that 10% of the proceeds will go to families that are supported through neighbor yeah that's such an easy way to support that is that at the north location or the original location on prospect I believe it's the original location on prospect perfect normally they'll call out when it's the north one so that makes sense yeah it's up on north college by the king supers it's delicious as well but it's more of a bar setting than the original one's kind of more of a dine in sure but yeah okay well thanks for sharing that with me yeah I think it would be prospect they normally make it pretty clear when it's up north by us but what do we got going on in the business world in the business world we've got an event ncp insider event sponsored by the port college chamber and that's Thursday June 4 at embassy suites okay so get your tickets right away yeah it's economic insights featuring Christopher Thornberg and he is the founder of beacon economics which is like being national research firm and consulting and so they're going to unfold some big trends happening in northern college economy which industries are winning which ones are losing where the jobs are where the people are to fill the job yeah and I know the port college chamber has been doing a lot of work on kind of understanding the local label market and opportunities too so for any business owner or really anybody in our community that cares about the climate that's a great event go to and it's at the embassy suites perfect yeah that's I feel like for the community at large it's really important to kind of know where those things are trending and what's going on and I snooped out this guy Christopher Thornberg and he seems to be legit yeah that's all like so great talk interested to see I like his last name for him that's fun and our last segment is where we have been eating and I realized that we haven't really been eating out very much but I thought back to what do I want to eat if I get to go out soon and I have been dreaming about doggy Korean barbecue Ben and I have loved doggy since we lived in Denver and they opened their very first location down on south Broadway and now they have one up here in downtown Fort Collins and they are really known for their meat you get unlimited meat you cook it yourself right there but personally I go there for the pickled radishes I love them I have tried year after year to pickle my own dichon radishes and they never ever come out the same to the point that like I can't even eat them mine are so gross and theirs I would buy them by the container which I have I've asked to get it to go container of pickled radishes so if you haven't been go eat everything it's all delicious but definitely get the pickled radishes fair enough thank you for that what do you eat in this week I am eating you know Verne's place in La Port is nice shout out I my wife and I went there just about two weeks ago and I had the chicken as I often do their four-piece half-chicken fried chicken meal but they also have eight-piece 12-piece and 16-piece to go family with sides with sides and they're not bad it's like 30 40 and 50 bucks oh yeah that's not bad at all teen with sides and it's the best chicken it's like kind of roasted style it's I guess it's like pressure fried okay so it's not just fried chicken but it's got like a pressure fryer yeah and it is juicy and delicious so shout out to Al and the crew up there at Verne's place and you know it's the right time of year to go spend a lunch on the patio with the family so check that out soon yes that's we are biased and love Verne's and I love that Verne's looks exactly the same on the dining room side as it has my whole life it just gives me that like good nostalgic feeling so definitely head out to Verne's and the animals on the walls oh yeah ways love them we get to identify them every time but thank you over here we love supporting local and so we want to know what you guys are supporting this week where did you go what did you see this week one of our representatives for Discover Noco magazine went out to Peacock Perch which used to be in downtown Fort Collins and is now down in Loveland and I didn't know I didn't realize they had moved either and so he said he was like oh I've been looking for their location and found it it's now down in Loveland so if you have been looking for where they moved from college that's where it is at so shout out there let us know where you go and we'll give you a shout out next week or if you've got some news that we should know and share with the community let us know but thanks for joining the Noco. Alright thanks Kelsey thanks thanks you guys.
