What's moving features Miles Beyond Running Community wrapping up support for Mandy Mullen at the Cocodona 250 in Arizona (catch episode 267 for the full story on that incredible 250 mile race). Their next big event is the Weld Your Metal Running Festival May 30th and 31st, featuring distances from 7K all the way to 100 miles on a private 146 acre property with camping, glamping, sauna, cold plunge, and mountain views.

The Windsor Chamber of Commerce is making major moves under executive director Norma Perez, adding over 120 new members in just nine months. They've built an impressive slate of networking opportunities including the Strength of Windsor Men's Group, Women of Windsor, Wake Up Windsor coffees, and the WISE Young Professionals Group (Windsor Inspiring Successful and Engaged). Austin Hannon and his fiancée Micah are taking over ownership of the FoCo Food Truck Rally, bringing fresh energy and community awareness to this beloved summer gathering. Austin also works for Visit Fort Collins, making this partnership a perfect fit for growth.

Community gatherings include Ginger and Baker hosting an exclusive farm event May 18th with Lisa Steele, author of In Season. Meet Ginger's flock of chickens, enjoy Q&A with the author, and taste recipes straight from the cookbook. Night on the Town returns to downtown Loveland every second Friday from May through October, with the first event this Friday featuring late shop hours and free museum entry. Saturday brings the Past and Progress Tour through four historic downtown Loveland buildings, with morning and afternoon tour times available for $10.

Keeping the beat highlights Story Swap at the Lyric Cinema every first Thursday, featuring live storytelling where none of the stories are known in advance. May 7th's theme is Family Lore, with Hello's and Goodbye's coming June 4th. ABBA Euphoria brings the ultimate ABBA tribute show to the Rialto Theater May 9th. Fort Collins Art Week runs May 1st through 9th, now hosted by the Mural Project with events across Midtown and beyond. Catch the free History, Murals and Public Art tour Wednesday May 6th at 10 AM, and don't miss Circus in the Square Saturday at 3:30 PM with Live Beyond Limit for a kid friendly circus experience (waiver required). Check thisisnoco.com for the complete Art Week calendar.

Community support spotlights Foundation for Accessible Music hosting their All Abilities Open Mic Night Thursday at New Belgium, featuring visual songbooks, AAC devices, sign language interpretation, live music accompaniment, and a quiet sensory break room. Homeward Alliance presents their Ungala fundraiser May 9th at the Lory Student Center with an intergalactic theme, welcoming space cowboys, Star Trek, Star Wars, or come as you are attire. RespectCare recently opened their new $12 million facility serving up to 155 kids at a time with special needs through activities and summer camps.

Business news celebrates Alison Sebeck, executive director of the Warehouse Business Accelerator in Loveland and longtime LoCo Think Tank facilitator, nominated as Manufacturing Woman of the Year for 2026. She's transformed the Warehouse since taking over just before COVID. May is also membership month at Breeze Thru Car Wash, the perfect time to beat pollen season with unlimited washes at multiple locations across NoCo for just $20 monthly.

Food picks feature Jack's Fish House premiering their new menu with an exciting Hunk of Fish program, allowing guests to learn exactly which fisherman caught their fish and where it came from that week. Look for Ben's full menu review coming soon on thisisnoco.com. Twin Staves cocktail bar in Windsor, located below Hearth Restaurant, is crafting intentional cocktails on par with Social and Ace Gillett's, led by bartender Sean who recently won a regional craft cocktail competition.

Important announcement: The LoCo PULSE is evolving into the NoCo PULSE and moving to its own dedicated channel. The LoCo Experience will continue sharing business stories and advisory content with LoCo Think Tank, while the NoCo PULSE brings you community news and events. Both shows continue, just easier to find.

Stay connected, NoCo.

Kar what are you drinking today? I have a frozen hot chocolate from the human bean that kids size one because you guys got an extra one of your own. Apparently we're going to human bean too much because they know that we normally have two kids even though today we only had one. So thanks human bean. And welcome to the local pulse where we're keeping our pulse on what's going on in no code to keep you up to date with all the business and community news. I'm Kurt Bear the owner and founder of loco think tank and the host of the local experience podcast. And I'm Kelsey Harris the owner of this is no co and discover no co magazine. Let's get into what's moving in no co the on the move segment is brought to you by miles beyond running community. The miles beyond team is currently in Arizona supporting Mandy Mullen as she competes in the Cocodona 250. Check out my recent long form podcast with Mandy episode 267 for more about that race and an update about what to come. Their next big event is the Welder Metal running festival May 30th and 31st. Which sounds like a great time. And what's moving in no co occurred. Well one thing that's on the move is the Windsor Chamber of Commerce. I met with Norma Perez their executive director and Katie McKee her executive assistant last week and Norma shared that they've added over 120 new members since she joined nine months ago. That's amazing. It is huge and Katie's a gem. I got to know her at a couple of local nonprofit events and they've built a great slate of networking and learning opportunities for the Windsor business community. They've got the strength of Windsor Men's group. They've got the women of Windsor wake up Windsor coffees. And my favorite since I'm an acronym nerd is the the wise young professionals group Windsor inspiring successful and engaged. Wow. That's what's like I never thought about how many nice words go with double you for Windsor. So what's on the move for you this week? That's I am shouting out Austin Hannon and his wife his not his wife yet this summer will be his wife his fiance Micah they are making big business moves and just have taken over the Foco Food Truck Rally. So the ownership has kind of always been hidden in the background for the Foco Food Truck Rally but Austin is taking that over him and Micah and Austin also works for visit for Collins doing all of the marketing to let everybody know how amazing Northern Colorado is to visit. So I think the Food Truck Rally pairs perfectly with that. It's likely to grow quite a bit just for that extra effort of community awareness. This is such a great community gathering. Right it is so amazing and we've had the pleasure to get to know Micah and Austin and we are sponsors of the Foco Food Truck Rally this year with Mrs. Noco and Discover Noco Magazine. So check out that in the summer issues and we might be hanging around a few of the rallies this summer with some surprises. So we'll let you know when that's happening. Awesome. That our next segment is Community Gatherings sponsored by Ginger and Baker and this event that Ginger and Baker has coming up feels almost like a secret I don't want to let out. You can go to Ginger's Farm for a farm event that is with in season and that is with Lisa Steele who is the author of in season you get to meet Ginger's Girls which is her flock of chickens. You get a Q&A with the author. You get some snacks made straight from the cookbook and just get to hang out and talk with Ginger and with Lisa. Honestly it sounds like you are in for a treat and I am so jealous of everyone that gets to go. That is going to be on May 18th and so definitely check it out. It is a morning event so it'll be great. Awesome. Sounds like a lot of fun. That's and we are kicking off May this week which means that it is officially night on the town is back in downtown Loveland. This is their second Friday event that runs from like May to September or May to October and so all the shops are open late. There's normally free entry to the Loveland Museum. It is a great time so this Friday is the first one so jump on out and on Saturday they're keeping the gathering going with a past and progress tour in downtown Loveland so you get to tour I think it's four historic buildings and kind of see where they've come from what they are looking to do. That is $10 for the tour. There's two times on Saturday one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Very cool. Kurt where are you gathering this week? You know I've wanted to for a while go to the Story Swap at the lyrics cinema and it's every first Thursday of the month so it's May 7th is the next one this week so Story Swap is a live storytelling hour with a twist. None of the stories are known in advance. Oh okay and they just draw your name out of a hat and you get up to eight minutes to share a story but it has to be on theme and so it's open to season storytellers as well as the curious and the upcoming themes are on May 7th family lore. Okay. I can have some good ones for my dad and then June 4th will be Hello's and goodbyes. Oh that one I feel like could have some broad. Yeah a lot of translation ability there so so check out Story Swap at the lyrics cinema. Is that a free event? It is yeah first Thursdays every month. Awesome. That's we are moving into our music and arts segment the no co-beat. The no co-beat so I have a little bit showing my age here but I'm kind of excited about Abba Euphoria and Abba Tribute Show at the Realtor Theater on May 9th. And I'm gonna show my age now and be like what's Abba the music of Mama Mia? Yes I believe that's true. I was researching and Abba's greatest hits album was released in 1975. Okay what I was one so if I want to go feel young I should probably go to this Abba show. Yes that sounds like a good time now. I do think they have like dance. Oh yeah that is good stuff yeah for sure. And this week is Fort Collins Art Week. This is the first year that it has been taken over by the mural project instead of the DDA in Fort Collins and so it's got a little bit of a broader scope. There are some events in Midtown moving around a little bit but that runs from May 1st through May 9th so you still have all week. They are hosting a tour on Wednesday the 6th that is a super tour. It is history, murals and public art. That is a free tour but they do ask that you register. It is at 10 a.m. And then there's also if you ever wanted to join the circus this is your chance. Well this is your opportunity Jill let's get him out. That is Saturday would live beyond limit. They're having circus in the square Saturday afternoon at 3 30. They do say that's kid friendly but there is a waiver that you have to sign. If you're looking for all the rest of the art week events we have just updated our community happenings calendar on this is noco.com so you can find them all there. Very cool. Community supporting community is next and that's brought to you by Breeze through Car Wash which is we switched it up. You enjoyed the noco beat and I was just rolling with it. So what is going on in the community Yeah so from Breeze through first it is May which means for me it means allergies and it also means that my car is covered in pollen and dirt. Now it's just the perfect time to look into Breeze through memberships to make sure that your car is always clean and not making you sneeze like mine does. So definitely check out those options and see what Breeze through is doing. And as a multi-year multi-car family with the Breeze through membership I gotta say it's the best because it's 20 bucks a month. Yeah it's not a lot and then I get a good deal by going often. Yes. If I have to pay for it every time then it's like oh do I really need a car wash but it's like it's free and you can be down in Loveland you can be over in Windsor somewhere you can be a lot of different places and be like oh look there's a Breeze through. Yeah like I can just pop in and if your kids ever need an activity the car wash is the perfect one. So you're like well this is already built in it's good for ever. I like to call my mom during the car wash. I put in my AirPods with the noise cancellation. I'm like I'm just good to car wash. But this Thursday the community is gathering with foundation for accessible music at New Belgium. They are hosting their next all abilities open mic night. So if you guys didn't know I worked in special education and various roles for the last decade so this one is special to me and it is an open mic night that really includes the entire community. They have visual songbooks. If you need them they are open to live music accompaniment. If you want or need it to help be up there they include AAC devices which are communication devices and sign language. So really however you can get up and perform they are welcoming it. They even have a quiet area in another room so you need a sensory break but don't want to leave the entire thing. You're welcome. So that is Thursday night. Definitely check that out at New Belgium. Awesome. That's really cool. By the way I went to the respite care luncheon last year. Oh yeah how was it? It was awesome and I really didn't know about their new facility. No I knew they were getting one but I haven't heard any update. They're in it. It's like a 12 million dollar facility. It can host 155 kids at a time with special needs. That's amazing. All different activities and summer camps. Anyway shout out to the respite care. Yeah for those families that is a huge. I'm gonna have their I think maybe their executive director currently and their founding executive director I ask if they would both let a podcast in the future. So we'll keep you updated when that episode drops. And that wasn't even on my list but the Holmer to Lions Ungalaxy event is May 9th at Laurie Student Center. And so this is their annual biggest fundraiser and this year's theme they always do a theme and it's intergalactic. So bring your space cowboy outfits, bring your star trek gear, any star wars, anything like that will be very welcome or come as you are. They're not here to chase you away. But you just reminded me that we're going to that event. You are. And I in my mind and my calendar it was far through away than it is. So you'll be a great time to celebrate a accomplishment, share their future vision and perhaps to be on. So Kurt what is going on in the business world of Melco? Well I just wanted to do a simple shout out this week to Allison Sebeck. Allison she's the executive director of the Warehouse Business Accelerator in Loveland. She was a longtime local facilitator of a chapter and she has been a two-time guest on my podcast. Wonderful. And she was nominated as a manufacturing woman of the year for 2026. Wow that is really impressive. So she took over the warehouse just before COVID and really turned it around over a season of the last six years I guess seven years since she's been there and she's just a remarkable business leader for our community. So shout out I hope you in Allison. That's I was like I'm gonna need to go back in here her episodes now. Oh yeah think some history. Number 41 is her actual long form. I remember that. That's I know. Maybe I'm wrong. It's a real course. But wonderful. What's in this week Kelsey? Well this week I didn't get to eat this. But we did get invited to Jack's Fish House is premiering their new menu coming up. And so they invited us to go and experience it and get to learn about the thoughtfulness that they have put into crafting this menu. So Ben went and he said that it he came home and he couldn't stop raiding about this menu. So we will definitely be checking it out once it drops. But he said there's even gonna be something called a hunk of fish. And that is way more exciting than it sounds because you get to you could go in and ask exactly who the fisherman was that caught this hunk of fish and where it came from that week. So he had a hunk of halibut on the coast of Alaska. Wow that's I'm glad you remembered that. Yeah told me. I don't remember. Well I love halibut. So that's why I remember. But he is going to be detailing the entire menu and his experience and what you can expect in an article. Yes we're getting Ben to write an article on this is noko.com. It'll be dropping keep an eye out on socials on the website and I'll let you know when it's there. Like Kelsey can you write the article and you're like but I didn't but I did yeah I didn't experience it. You need to write this. So he's gonna do great. I'm the one going with the drinks this time. It's totally my goal. And I wanted to give a shout out to Sean at Twin Staves cocktail bar in Windsor. It's right below the hearth restaurant and you can get food from. Oh great. But it's a cocktail bar exclusively and and deliciously. I have to say Sean was a bartender in the LA area for many years and moved back to his native Northern Colorado in COVID nation. As we all did. Right and so they found him and he is kind of leading that crew there putting together some great cocktails. I met with Norma and Katie from the Windsor Chamber over there at their suggestion and so shout out. It's a it's on par with like social and ace Gillettes as far as I can tell from their menu and just the the intentional crafting. Oh and they want to craft cocktail competition. Already from yeah like a dozen other places around the region. Social was not one of the contenders but Sean tells me that he can definitely beat them. Yeah that's so maybe maybe we gotta get social in Twin Staves. Yeah I might have to. But okay that's I was like I've heard of it but we've not gone. Yeah I was excited. I've been hearing about it the last few months and so I was happy to be able to check it out. Yeah we're gonna have to go down. We have a lot of friends in Windsor and that's a shorter drive for them to them. I'm up here so Twin Staves. That awesome. Over here we are local for local we are local for local and we want to know how you are supporting local this week. So tag us let us know where you went what you did this week we had a ton of tags from Picklefest which blew up last week. That's yeah it was two years ago it was only the Loveland Ilwerks space and like one block. So this year they tripled the size they closed down three streets and it was a full block and I think that Kaylee from Visit Loveland said something like 10,000 people went. I and what's the how's the pickle theme tied in? So it's all they have all pickle beer from they had verboten, wily roots and Loveland Ilwerks all root pickle beer. I've noticed pickle beers I've been used lately. They had pickle cotton candy they had pickled we had pickled brittle. Was there like a big pickle factory in Loveland back in the day? I have no idea where the pickle came from but Loveland Ilwerks says it's for the love of pickles but we had lots of people tag us at Picklefest so shout out for supporting downtown Loveland but let us know what you do this week and we'll give you a shout out on next week's podcast. Awesome quick announcement also that in coming weeks you're gonna see a few changes to the local pulse including the name. There's been a lot of interest in this new short form collaboration and so we're splitting it off properly into its own channel and giving it a name change. Yep and soon it will just be the noco pulse so easy to know you'll know what you're looking for but it won't be hosted in the same place as the local experience anymore. Don't worry neither one is going the way the local experience will be living on socials with local think tank giving you all the business peer advisory the business news and business stories in one place and we will be the noco pulse easy to find them both we won't let you get lost and we will still both be here. That's and we'll see you next week. Awesome have a great week. Noco.
